Why completing BBS safety training is more than just formal certification.

Background

Technical work at gas stations is subject to special safety, organizational, and documentation requirements. For many oil companies, the BBS safety pass is therefore a mandatory requirement for the proper deployment of contractors.

Lichtwart's qualification

We have already successfully completed the BBS safety training course 2025. Our managing director Gregor Giataganas and our master electrician Andreas Wiebe now have a valid BBS safety pass. This means that Lichtwart meets the formal requirements for working with oil companies that apply the BBS standard. These include BP/Aral, Shell, TotalEnergies, ORLEN/STAR, OMV, JET, and Eni, among others. The regulations apply to Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

What the BBS standard ensures

Among other things, the BBS standard regulates:

  • safe working at gas stations
  • Training obligations for employees and subcontractors
  • Digital documentation of training courses and authorizations
  • Clear verifiability during audits and inspections

The qualification must be renewed annually and supports compliance with legal obligations in occupational safety. It applies to Germany, Austria, and Switzerland—our European growth focus markets #DACH.
